An Urban Farm Exploration
AN URBAN FARM EXPLORATION
Inclusive Farming - Behind The Scenes
The Enabling Lives Festival (ELF) is a signature event organised by SG Enable to rally stakeholders, corporates, philanthropies and the community, to come together to celebrate the occasion of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities.
Discover a fresh view of Singapore and peek behind the scenes of our nation’s burgeoning agriculture industry, along with an exclusive station - our beneficiaries' work areas - and learn about the inclusive practices that we adopt to foster a safer and more conducive environment for our colleagues with ASD.
With the goal of 30 by 30, farmers in Singapore have our eyes set on the same collective goal. But what shapes our farming scene today? How has the industry evolved, and how might it continue to change? After all, our food story is still being written today.
Join us on a journey from the past to the present and into the future, as we trace the origins of farming in Singapore and how it influences the way we farm now. Some topics that will be covered:
- Wartime: Learn more about urban farming in Singapore, and how we as a nation have navigated around our historical & present food resilience challenges
- Biodiversity: Understanding the interplay between nature, both flora and fauna and our broader ecosystem
- Soil Science & CEA: Learn about other major challenges in agriculture and approaches that attempt to solve for the future in a more (as a necessity) environmentally conscious world
- Inclusive Farming: Learn how inclusive hiring practices can play a big part in an up-and-coming industry and create more job opportunities for marginalised groups.
Learn about the agriculture industry and the variety of challenges Singapore looks to overcome - local & historic food resilience and sustainability, and join us in learning about EGC’s approaches to managing these challenges. We also share our vision for the future of farming in Singapore - therapeutic spaces, indoor vertical farming systems, native plants and people growing more of their own food – at home and in the community.

It is a social enterprise that aims to promote growing our own food. I participated in “The Edible Garden City Tour: Queenstown Farm” and found it to be very informative and interactive."
